i want to buy a laptop from dell for home use and the only good ones are business laptops. can i buy one and use it at home for stuff like the internet and games?

my freind offerd it to me for cheap but my bro who is into computer networking told me not to get it cuz apple computers are totalty different then microsoft and arnt compatable with alot of programs are apples ok to use since im starting to go back o college? thanks

i'm into buying notebooks, used and new ( mostly used) and i would like to have direct access with hp, dell or any major brand name, to buy their refurbished or used systems, but i don't know how to go about it. do any of you have an idea of how to go about it?

I have used PCs all my life, but now I have decided to switch to Macs because I think they would work well with my kind of use. I have done my research and read about the different ones available, but I'm not sure which would work best for me. All of the PCs I have used have failed with me. I use my computer for many things. I need adequate battery life and a fast system that can handle multitasking with big graphics programs. I mainly use my computer for storing and editing pictures, listening to music, watching movies, editing movies, chatting, web surfing, graphics making, game playing, and maybe some other things. As you can see, I need a lot of space and also RAM, but I'm unsure which or how much would be best. If anyone familiar with Macs can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I'll be going to college next fall, so I'll need it for my major as well.
Please, if you are just going to try to change my mind about buying a Mac, then don't answer. I know everyone has their opinion about PCs and Macs, but I'm not looking for opinions on both right now.

Well I've had a look around and these laptops seems to be very strong and they have good benchmarks, yet I don't know if I should buy one or not becuz I've have some question about it and until they're cleared, I think I wouldn't be getting one.
1. I'm currently living in Kuwait, and becuz Dell don't offer them here, a friend of mine will buy it for me from the US, and I'm afraid that cuz of voltage difference from place to place, it might ruin the motherboard or the power supply of the laptop
2. Is there anyway to change the power adapter to suit the power sockets here ? (the power sockets are like the ones in UK, 3 way and big and bulky)
3. I've heard that after two years or such with using a dell laptop, you get an error saying "AC adapter couldn't be determined" or something similar, and the battery won't charge anymore, and in the end your motherboard will be fried, has anyone got this problem before ?
4. Will the warranty work here ? (like if something happens to my laptop, can I go to the dell workshop here and repair it for free ?)
I bought this mac (used) laptop on the internet about 2 weeks ago. I really havn't had much time to mess with it until now, and notice that it won't save a thing once restarted. I transfered some music, documents, pictures from my desktop mac, and once I shut it down and start it up again, wallpaper is back to the blue apple one, all documents on desktop are gone, favorites from safari are gone,,,,basically everything is just reset.
I don't know what to do.
Could anyone help me?
I really need to fix this quick because I'm about to go college soon, and would really like to have a computer that works...

I recently bought Dell Inspiron 1420 Laptop online and am unhappy it performance usually i have a blue screen and the problem is from the hardwear not softwear and dell knew about this and thy told me they are going to replace some parts . but t do not to use dell laptop any more cause thy have a bad quality

I'll be using it at home for basic home use. Wireless is a must. I'll be surfing the internet a lot. I will be using MS Money, Firefox and word processing. I also want to watch DVDs with it. No games, I have a desktop for that. What are the minimum specs that I should look for? Any other advice?
