Can I buy Dell’s warranty and use it immediately?

I bought a laptop from Dell two years ago without purchasing the extended warranty at the time. (Which means my warranty expired a year ago.) I now have some issues with my laptop and I talked to a third party technician who fixes Dell laptop. He said I can go onto Dell website and simply purchase the warranty and use it immediately. Has anyone done this before?

I would read the fine print carefully. You can’t be the first person who’s thought of this, and so has Dell. They have to have some protection against someone buying the policy, then immediately using it for far more than they’re going to pay for it. Insurance just can’t work that way for long.
And I think you suspect the same thing.
Hope that helps.
Dell now offers an umbrella warranty which will cover all Dell products in your home for a period of one year(even if current warranty expired). You can call 1-800-283-2210 for details.
