I have ,350 in Savings Bonds from long ago. If I used some of it to buy a laptop for college, would I be taxed on it later in the year? Or does it fall under the category of an "Educational Expense"?

Ok, I am a comparative newbie to the computer world and a definate novice to the Apple. Am looking at getting a laptop for my personal use and for the kids to get comfortable with using an Apple and a PC. Have been to the Apple store in our local mall to look a bit. This will not be used for games (much) just personal web surfing, some finances, photos and other basic stuff. Any suggestions on what model to buy? How do you feel about refurbished models for Apple? Extended warranties worth it? Please not too technical and thank you for your help

I am about to get a laptop i beleive and i was wondering what everyones opinions were on Apple Mac Book. Or laptops with windows? Do you get what you pay for with the Mac Book? I have always used windows and liked windows but the Mac Book looks like it would be a great laptop. Also has anyone bought a Apple laptop off a sute that buys used ones tests everything in them and resells for a lot cheaper? And does the standard Mac Book come with a built in camera for iChat? I would use my laptop to play games, type reports, surf the net, and possibly use for college.

I find out that Amazon accept foreign credit card online payment.
Dell requires foreign credit card holder to call them to place an order.
And HP Home accept no foreign credit card at all.
Could anybody know any webside where I can use foreign credit card to buy a laptop online? Thanks.

I used to be a huge sims fanatic until my PC crashed about 6 months ago. Ever since then, I've been using my mom's laptop. She just bought me a new apple laptop and I'm so happy! I love it <3 She said I can load the sims2 on my new laptop, but I heard that they take-up too much memory and ruin laptops. I have sims2: nightlife, university, pets, o4b and seasons. I know that before I stopped playing, they made one just for laptops. Does anyone know which one(s) i should get??

thanks a bunch

from head to toe.

I was looking for an apple laptop on ebay or craigslist for college.

I was wondering if I should buy used or if I should just get it new. Horror stories or stories of fantastic deals are welcome!

I'm going off to college in september and want a laptop. I don't have much money, because most of it will go to college, but I'm willing to spend enough to get a decent laptop. I'm completely lost when it comes to what kind to buy. I'm used to windows, because that's what i've grown up with, but someone told me apple is better. Advice!??

It is now time for me to get a new laptop, as my old Dell is not performing the things, and quickness I need it to. I am looking into buying a Mac laptop, but I know nothing about them. I use my laptops mainly for DVD editing, and creating, music and photo editing. I am looking for something that can burn cds and dvds withen the laptop, and has software that I can create professional like dvds. I am looking to spend anywhere under 0, if possible. As I stated above, I know noting about Apple, and their laptops. Does editing software, Photoshop, Garage Band..etc. come on the laptops? Do you have to buy everything extra? Help! Thanks

I just bought a used Apple Ibook laptop.. You can see it here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=290265792385

Then I bought a Linksys wireless router.. You can see it here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=110298943805

The laptop does NOT come with an airport card.. Will this router work if I want to plug it into my already existing cable modem? I want wireless internet on the laptop.. Also, I think I need an apple airport card but they are expensive!! Anyone know where I can find the one that I need for cheap?? Thanks!

so i was at the apple store and saw a little guitar icon at the bottom of all the laptops and computers. i am a musician myself so i decided to investigate. i clicked on it and i didnt understand what it was.

sooo,
what can i do with garageband?

will it come with the computer or do i have to buy it and download it?

can only get it on an apple laptop?

can i like, add drums and bass to songs i recorded?

if i cant, what programs can i buy/download that will allow me to do that, and also edit songs i record?

also...
what equipment would i need to get a good recording of a song, like some equipment, mics, what? how much would it all cost? where do i get it?

and one last one...

i am 14 and get a laptop this summer for highschool next year. my mom says apple laptops suck and dont have the resources i need and and they are hard to use. what do you think of apple laptops?

I just bought a laptop. A used Apple Ibook. It does not come with an airport card, whatever that is, so i know i need to buy one. Can someone tell me how to get wireless internet on it? I have no clue what routers are or anything about them, so please break it down into baby steps. I have a desktop and have cable internet, but i want wireless internet on the laptop. How do I do that and about how much is it going to cost? Thanks
so the wireless router can hook up to the box that my cable internet is connected to?
the processor is
PPC G3 366MHz
if that helps..

I'm not buying a laptop quite yet...probably in about 6 months, but I figured I should do my research on them now, so the decision is easy later.

I've been using Windows on desktop PCs all my life, so I think I know what to expect from a Dell. However, I know very little about Macs. I know they are becoming very popular these days, largely thanks to their amazing TV commercials, but are the really that much better?

I'll be using this laptop for university...so I'll need the functions of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, etc). What are Mac's comparable softwares, and are the just as good (or better?). And of course I need reliability...can't have it suddenly crashing and dying just when I need it.

Also, is OSX hard to get used to for a lifetime Windows user?
