I have just bought the software – Final Cut Studio Pro today. I’m debating on which laptop or computer to get. Usually, I use laptops. I have the old mac which I’m planning out to recycle. I have vista laptops, but since I’m planning on using this software for fun (such as Youtube) and sometimes for serious lookouts. Is it better to buy the new MacBook Pro or the iMac. The Mac computer looks good to, but I’m sick of those old style computers, that’s why I rather go for the iMac. Any comments?

I was searching everywhere online for a company other than apple store itself that sells used mac’s. Well I found a supposedly reputable company online that is experts at fixing laptops especially macs. They also sell them too. So after much research I decided to buy one from them for 9. I got it in September because they were running a good deal on this one and I wanted to buy it asap. I bought it for my boyfriends birthday which is in November. I turned it on when I got it..it worked fine.. I shut it down and never turned it on again. Come November…my boyfriend gets it hes so happy etc etc..now 1 week later it doesn’t work..it boots up and doesn’t even go to any screens or anything…my boyfriend didn’t do anything to it..and this company’s policy is only a 30 day return…i purchased it through Paypal and they only have a 30 day dispute period and my bank said its too late for them to do anything. The laptop has a 6 month warranty but I just want my money back. Any advice any1?

I’m planning to buy a new laptop. I have never used Mac. I just know that it’s more expensive than Windows , and it less risky when it comes to viruses.
I’d like to have a little change.
Do you think that Mac is a right choice?
Can you explain to me the advantages and the disadvantages of this OS?

So, I know this has been asked before, but I’m super confused. My entire family has always used macs, I know nothing about PCs. So if I had any trouble with it, I’d have to ask around, but since everyone else has them, I think that’s not a real biggie. I’m going to be majoring in Political Science at Tulane, I don’t think the laptop will be a huge problem either way.

So, to help make my decision, I guess I just want to know, how often do PCs get viruses? (When I told my uncle I was thinking about getting a PC, and he said that I’d have to buy a bunch of anti-virus stuff, but he’s super mac-biased). Do PCs come with any programs/are they user friendly to set up? (My mac comes with pretty much everything you need already on it… I like that). Mac has a discount for college students, but PCs in general are just cheaper, I assumed it was because you had to buy programing for them. I like the built in microphones and cameras macs have built in… but I don’t really need it.
What I really like about PCs is that I could easily find programs for them (I have never played the Sims because I have a Mac… ). Also, a lot of programs (like even a bank merchant account?) only run on PCs. I don’t really need all the bells and whistles, I really just want something with the internet, something I can write on (and I don’t mind using word for mac, that’s fine) and something preferably with a lot of memory space (because I will put programs like photoshop, etc. on there no matter what computer I get). My old (windows) laptop has died, and so I am going to buy a new laptop. I am an art student so will be using a range of the adobe products including after effects, photoshop and illustrator, and Id also using it for general internet use.
Bearing in mind that a windows laptop would be a lot cheaper for the same specs, it would also need anti-virus software etc and still be prone to viruses anyway.

So, weighing everything up, I would really appreciate any information on which would be better for my situation.
(If getting Mac – it would just be 2.4GHz Macbook)

Im thinking about getting a mac but i do not want to buy it if i cannot use my mac laptop with my cable connection that i have only used with pcs, it is standard internet connection from comcast can i use the same connection? if not can i use a wireless connection the i have only used ith pc’s???
do i need any special adapters or routers???

Am looking at buying a Mac Laptop mainly because they are alot better to use for editing photos & videos etc, but am not sure which one would be best for my money! Am looking to spend no more than 00 (AUD) but of course would like to spend less if I could. Doesn’t have to have the biggest harddrive as I already have my own.

i’m 17..still in highschool i’ve chosen a career that i’m highly interested in "Graphic Design" & i kno that i’m gonna need a mac & lets just say i aint tha riches kid on tha block…
will financial aid help me pay for a new or used mac laptop because i need one BADLY FOLKS!…
keep in mind that i’m 17 young black & i live in Fort Pierce, FL….
or is there any other program or something that can help me buy a mac laptop!!!

I am going to University in 2010, and I was planning to buy a Mac laptop! However, Apple has a deal right now where if you buy a Mac laptop, you get a free Ipod touch. So I was wondering… is it worth it to get the laptop now (considering I need time to get used to a Mac over a regular PC)? Or should I not go for the deal, since Apple may come out with new designs/upgrades, and buy a laptop before I go to University?

Also, I am thinking of getting into a Business program for my Undergrad. That being said, I don’t really need many fancy programs on my laptop (since I am not doing graphic design or computer programming, etc). I just need a laptop for music, internet, Word, MSN, and that kind of jazz. Which Mac laptop is best for me and my needs?
Basically there are three types:
1) Macbook
2) Macbook Pro
3) Macbook Air

Never used a laptop before.. so really need help in buying one ..

I am mostly gonna use it for school work, download, burning …and sometimes games..

Now my first concern is to which brand should i buy ?? …few good ones i heard of are : (not in any order) dell, toshiba, hp, sony …also apple macbook …now i have never used a mac before … so not sure how would it be for the first time ….but heard lots of good reviews about it …… and also one of my main concern is how mostly laptops now a days coming wid vista… and i didnt read any good reviews of vista and neither i used that before…. and i been using xp for long time … now one of the question is that if i buy a laptop wid vista.. whts the minimum configuration i should look for and can i go from vista to xp ?? …and also can i run both on one laptop like xp and vista….??… and also wheres the best place to buy a laptop from like wht u guys think of ebay ?? … also my bro is really interested in this laptop of dell XPS M5130 :

I am struggling with the purchase of a new laptop. I am inclined to buy a Mac for greater security, ease of use, customer service, etc. but I can get so much more (RAM, hard drive, features, etc.)in a PC such as Dell, Toshiba, Sony, HP, etc. If there are any MAC lovers out there, please give me more reasons to buy one of the new laptops that just came out. Thanks!!!
I guess what I am really looking for is justification for spending twice as much on a Mac as I can for a PC.
