You have to answer this question in reverse. What do you want to be able to do. I have both and for different things they have different needs. If you are a game player, you are going to have to go PC all the newest games come out there first and sometimes never arrive on your standard mac. If you are talking business, either will do, it becomes what are you best suited to use. If you are talking trying to save the max cash, we are back to PC we dont have to buy it all from apple with PC’s. There are so many if’s it is hard to say. For what you are saying either will do, go for the best price you can find unless you have a secret preference you are trying to not state at the moment

Pc is the best unless you just doing work
pc is the better answer unless your going to be doing design for graphics or websites.
if so, get a mac.
windows, it’s cheaper and you get more bang for your buck.
mac. it simply is faster
Than just get a normal Windows PC bro, you are going to save alot of money and get something better. Only get a MAC if you know how to use one, and mostly if you are into editing and designing.
buy a mac they are better faster, more memory, no viruses can go on it
mac is for more arty things, and if u are not doing alot of art (which is what most of the programs on a mac are for) then it is definetley better for you to get a PC as it is cheaper and you’ll use all the things on it!
hey i was in the same predicament a few months ago, i ended up buying a mac book. the things i love about it is its always running smoothly, never freezes and is really easy to use! the things i find annoying is with instant messaging, on both MSN and AIM i can’t do video chat. also the instant messaging is really basic, even though i have both the newest versions. so if instant messaging is a big part of your life, i say definitely do not get a mac!
Macs are good for more serious uses. But a windows pc is more widely used. So since you want to do simple things with it then I suggest getting a pc. If you like the way the mac os looks then just get the pc and install linux on it. And just dual boot linux and windows.
windows is the most common one so its better to have windows because its easy to get files and send files to other pcs.
Alright. Since you aren’t using anything for business or actual work, just personal, you should get something you will like.
Now, one thing since you mentioned the internet, an iMac steps up here because there are less viruses written for the Mac OS. iMac is better for music since iTunes is already installed and you get some sweet deals from iTunes Music Store because you purchased a mac computer (whether is be a laptop or a desktop). Honestly, mac laptops are much better than the windows laptops as well. Much more stable.
With a Mac, if you are not familiar, it can be quite a burden to learn. So, hopefully you have used a mac before and know the hot keys and how to use the software.
Now, on Windows, I’m not a fan, but it handles instant messaging a little better.
The browser for iMac is defaulted to Opera, I believe
and Windows is Mozilla or IE.
It’s all up to you really.
I prefer Mac, obviously though.
Depends mainly on what you want it for, from what you have described you will want a windows although as you become more custom to doing the everyday tasks you describe a mac will become more useful than a windows laptop. Windows with its user friendly interface and vast amounts of supported software such as easy obtainable microsoft office, webcam software, gaming etc makes everyday use a breeze although once you become used to a mac’s downfalls it becomes much more useful for photography/photoshop, networking and one huge advantage there is a very minimal amount of virus and spyware for mac’s because hackers generally aim for the majority i.e. the windows users
