I have a Dell desktop at home. I wanted my laptop to be a Mac. I do not game, I would only use it for internet browsing, music and photos/home movies most importantly school, which means I need Microsoft word, and powerpoint and Adobe to be compatible. Also will the data on my desktop be able to be transferred to the Macbook? Thanks!

Well mac and pc have there own program types so YOU can get word acess and pwr point on mac but you wil have to buy them as the ones installed on windows wont work as mac has its own extension something known as a DMG or smefin…..it changes so .exe files that work on windows wont work but word is available for mac so are other programs. And a Mac is also very fast then window so if you want music and photos it will work fast plus its entertainment side is awsome so music will be of very nice quality. So Mac is a good choice for music and movie and stuf as it supoorts strong graphics by default and is very fast(faster then windows) and stable and better plus there are fewer viruses for macintoch!
I just switched to a mac I dont know how I ever used a PC, the mac OS is awesome.
You can get a version of Office, for Mac. The one complaint I have about Mac’s – they ARE expensive compared to PC’s. I know the Applets will flame me for saying so.
Data compatibility isn’t too big a deal if you have the right media for it. I once used a (100Mb) zip drive to transfer data between 2 PC’s (one running Windows & the other running Linux) and my Mac iBook. All you really need is a DOS partition & it should be fine.
