I am so sick of PCs and I want an apple laptop. I have seen them at the apple store and they seem awesome. I want it mostly for home use, internet etc, but occasionally I will need to use Word or Excel (how compatible are the apple versions to the PC ones?) I saw an apple laptop for 99 and another for 99 but I am really clueless. Is this a good buy? If so, which one should get? Is the 99 one a good or a really crappy bet? Thanks so much in advance!

The apple office is compatible with the Microsoft one but if the other person has office 2007 they will need to save it as a word 2003 document becuase the current version (2004) does not support the new docx format. I have windows and my sister has apple and we have no problems sharing and exchanging between office for windows and office for mac.

no new apple imacs are crappy just because of the price
if you want to use word there are some emulators or even
you can run windows XP on your imac just to use word
try to see which laptop its better by
processor, space, memory ram,screen..etc..

Word and excel work perfectly and you can email them to a pc and you can open the file without trouble.
I will be buying the $1099 one in about a month. My friend says that it is awesome. She was raised on a mac and her dad is a computer guy so i trust there word on it. They did say to do the $75 hard drive upgrade just to make it a bit fast.
Its a great buy if you are looking for a cheap prices it is just as good as the more expensive one. I would get it.
