Regarding the compatibility I don't think you should worry too much since you are not using it for a specific industry related software. If you want for DVD's music, pictures, office use, email, that's fine! You will only enjoy it. But, if you are in a specific business and you use special software that are industry specific I would check the compatibility.

Get a MacBook with Intel 2 Duo processor and make sure you have at least 2 GB RAM, if you gonna do graphics and playing games I would go for more. If you are gonna store a lot of music make sure it has plendy of hardrive space.

Good luck!

A Macbook should be more than enough for what you want... a macbook Pro is a bit better, but you will pay for it.

Don't buy refurbished... it's a risky investment. Save up and buy new if you can.

Also, upgrade the RAM to 2 gigs.

Buy Refurb ONLY from the Apple online store. You can get an 80 gig Macbook today for $899.

If you must install and use Windoze based programs it'll certainly do it.

I know some others have recommended more RAM and bigger HD ... BUT!!! I'd buy the basic one. Then, later, if you need more HD or RAM, it's a lot cheaper to buy it from OWC and install it yourself.

I bought the original Macbook (refurbished) over a year ago, and have since swapped out the HD from a 60 to a 160. the original 1 gig of RAM is more than enough to run a full version of Photoshop, so I doubt you'll have a problem there.

Apple completely refurbs and warranties these machines. They're good as new!

I have a brand new MacBook still in the box bought for me as a birthday gift. I really wanted a Dell XPS M1710 and I woulkd sell it for the original price and pay for the shipping. I just don't like Mac or Apple. Everything is so different then What I'm use to. They are the best for composing your own music, which I have no interest in. I'll keep it only if I have to, but I hate it. Only opening it up onced convinced me it's not for me!
