Hi there…I would have to agree with Rick’s answer. The current latest third-party software is quite memory intensive and more geared towards the G4 processor as well. Consider opting for a used G4 iBook or Powerbook, which should be fine to use for another year.
I think it’s fine.
Sounds like a good one. You might want to take a friend along who knows MACs to check it out, before you buy it – caz you can never return stuff you buy on craigslist and you will not have a warranty from Apple
Hello lj89,
I wouldn’t recommend that. The G3 Macs are basically abandoned technology and certainly aren’t worth $300. Apple has even abandoned their G5s to go with the Intel processors. It won’t be long before you won’t be able to find anything to run on that.
There are a couple of good Macintosh dealers in Sacramento (if that’s where you live). Go there and check out what’s there and how much it’s going for. Also there’s a good and active Macintosh Users Group there. Attend some meetings and you might be able to get more information about it, and you might even get a better deal on something a little newer.
Do you think that it might be better to continue to save your money and get a slightly better MacBook or MacBook Pro later on down the road? Best of luck to you. I love my PowerMac, so I know where you’re coming from.
