Is it worth buying a Mac relative to what I want to use it for?

I have been using Windows since the early 90′s and have never used a Mac. I have an HP desktop and plan on still using it. I also want to buy a laptop because I have Wifi throughout my house and I don’t always feel like sitting at a desk. A friend of mine recently switched to Mac and can’t say enough good things about it. I just recently invested in an ipod touch. I downloaded itunes onto my PC and it’s been working fine for me as far as loading stuff into my ipod. I basically plan on using the laptop mainly to play the MMO City of Heroes (which now has a version for Apple), to surf the web, manage my music and photos, play around in photoshop elements, and to a lesser extent edit home movies and the like from my camcorder. Given that these are the main and probably only reasons I would be using the laptop, is it worth spending the extra to get the Mac book or should I stick to an HP laptop with Windows?
And please refrain from the whole Mac vs. PC flame wars. Ideally I’d like to hear from people who have used both systems.

For a lot of the media-centric uses you have in mind – photoshop and home movies – Macs still have the edge although the advantage is nowhere near has great as it once was. Personally I find Macs less distracting to work on than Windows – when you get used to a Mac after a while using Windows seems stressful because you can constantly being bothered by things that are not relevant to the task in hand. Windows users don’t really notice it because they are so used to it.
However, Macs come with a high price tag and it is really an individual choice. How much you need the money?
I am a great fan of both systems and to be honest everything that you have mentioned can be completed on a Windows laptop for half the price (seeing as MacBooks are very expensive when compared to the PC equivalent). However, if you want to go for good looks, ease of use and excellent build quality (and cost isn’t a factor) then go for a Mac. Editing movies and Pics on Macs is made far easier with better results with iLife 09 than on Windows Movie Maker.
However, you can get more power for your money with Windows laptops and judging by what you need to do a PC would be the best option.
