Is it worth waiting for prices to come down to buy an Intel-powered Mac laptop?
I don't use my computer for serious gaming, but I would very much like the thing to be fast and not to hang up when I inadvertently have four or five programs running simultaneously. Right now, the new Mac Book I'd like would run nearly 00, while one could get a pretty sweet i-Book for around half that price. (p.s. I think the first Intel-based Mac Books are shipping this week, so maybe someone with the desktop model could weigh in?) Thank you VERY much for your help.

I gave up a long time ago waiting for prices to "come down" because they never do. The best computer is always about the same price and is usually good for 5 years. However, I just bought the new Mac laptop (my first Apple) and based on what I’m seeing and what I’ll use it for, I think it will last longer.
If you want to save money and wait. Apple usually ups the clock speed of the high end model and sells the last high end model for the mid range price.
