Laptops: Windows or Mac?
I've decided to buy a laptop, but haven't decided on which system I should run. I know it depends a lot on what I plan to use it for, and windows is a lot more widely used than mac (especially with schoolwork). And I'm also aware that macs (at least the ones I've seen) cost quite a bit more than a windows computer. One of the most important things I'm taking into consideration is the amount of viruses out there for windows computers, as opposed to only one for Mac computers (so I've heard). I don't need lots of fancy features, just basically something with a CD/DVD drive and USB ports. Your opinions and experience with either would be much appreciated, along with any advice you can offer. Thank you!

Just get a regular macbook (starting at around $1100) and then load both windows and OS X Leopard onto it. You’ll be able to switch between the two through bootcamp. Your local mac store should be able to load a copy of Windows xp in for you. This way, you’ll get the fine built of the macbook + support when you need it.
Equally, you can also load OS X onto any general intel based laptops. However, I doubt you would want to go through the trouble.

I myself am looking at the MacBook range from Apple, because I would love a Mac, but would not like to leave behind my Windows world I have become accustomed to. I would get a MacBook, or MacBook Pro, and buy a copy of Windows Vista Premium or Ultimate (avoid Basic like the plauge), and throw that on there using Boot Camp or Parallels. Just make sure you get as much RAM as possible with the Mac if you use Parallels.
And, yes, there are Viruses for the Mac out there, but the number is so insignificant, it is rounded down to none. Norton makes Norton AntiVirus for Mac, funnily enough, and have done so for a while now. It did fizzle out of existance for a while at one point, though.
