need enough speed to play DVD’s have a better than average sound system, play some games (call of duty) use MS works, Excel, Powerpoint, looking for a trustworthy outlet someone around Vancouver Wa. or someplace online. Also we are going wireless at our home what system should we choose. The laptops will need the wireless cards or internal not sure which is best. also need USB ports for thumb drives and digital camera. Thanks for the help

Try http://www.publicsurplus.com. They list surplus equipment from schools and gov’t agencies. Many, many times you can get on there and get a good laptop for under $300 (of course there are no warranties and all sales are absolutely final – even if you get screwed).
I have used that site many times for office equipment and Mac computer systems. Never had any problems.
you can go to dell.com and they have great laptops for under $500 -$550 brand new.
