My mac g3 laptop is acting like it exploded I need help! Can you help?

Alright so I bought a used mac g3 clamshell laptop from a friend and a few months ago. Whenever I would turn it off it would make a weird noise and not turn except a few random times… I asked a friend who said I had a bad hard drive. Now my computer is really slow so I restarted it only the problem is it was loading but theres a white screen and a picture of a folder and in the middle and then a question mark appears inside the folder… Any help how to fix it?

1st of all, that icon mean.. it cant find the startup disk. your hard drive is ok, only the system folder is spoilt.
what you need to do is.. boot fr the Mac "Original" installer CD, then reinstall the system. your files in hard drive are ok!
BUT… you shouldnt do it yourself..
how to recover your profiles in system like email, add, photos or whatsoever, is depend on how well you know the Mac system work. No worry :> just bring it to a Mac technician (apple store), they can solve your problem. remember! is Mac technician!
by the way, i’m sorry to tell you that. the G3 ibook is outdated for "anything" nowadays, it cant run latest system, softwares, games or any gadgets… even you have recovered the system problem, you will face a hard drive (hardware) sooner to dead and the processor may have problem too..

anyways, your harddrive is running out of memory. clear out useless stuff, destroy ad aware. to destroy ad aware, you can go download Ad-Aware Personal, which is free.
also, defrag your comp.
That icon in the middle of your screen means your computer can’t find the startup disk, which is set to be your hard drive. So basically, your hard drive is dead.
