My Mac won’t save anything….?

I bought this mac (used) laptop on the internet about 2 weeks ago. I really havn’t had much time to mess with it until now, and notice that it won’t save a thing once restarted. I transfered some music, documents, pictures from my desktop mac, and once I shut it down and start it up again, wallpaper is back to the blue apple one, all documents on desktop are gone, favorites from safari are gone,,,,basically everything is just reset.
I don’t know what to do.
Could anyone help me?
I really need to fix this quick because I’m about to go college soon, and would really like to have a computer that works…
Thank you.

Are you using the guest account? The guest won’t save anything.
call your local apple store
also click on the blue in the left top corner of the screen
have it update software
that should fix it
are you saving them under the same user?
look in your HardDive>Users folder for your files;
or search them in Spotlight if it has osx 10.4 or later.
chuck the apple and buy a pc or laptop with windows apples are not very good computers
