Question about Mac Laptops?

I really want a Mac Laptop. I was wondering a couple of things. I am a student, and i would be using this laptop to help me with my homework.
Ok so i would have to buy Microsoft Office for Mac. Now, I currently have a computer that is Windows. Would I be able to (pay close attention here) write an essay on the microsoft office for mac, and put it on a flash drive, take it downstiars to my windows computer, and print it? Do you get what i’m asking? i want to make sure that i can do my work upstairs on the laptop and then be able to print it out on my printer downstairs. is there any other methods of doing this? would my laptop be able to connect to the printer downstairs even tho another computer is connected to it? as you can see, i am confused. please help.
i also want ot be able to write an essay on the laprop, and bring it to school on a flash drive and print it out there (the computers are windows)

Macs are a good choice for school, yes you can print an essay from upstairs, depending on what printer you have. It should work if you have a Canon printer, and Microsoft Office.
If you create a document in Microsoft Office on a Mac, you can open it on any computer, Macintosh or PC, that has Microsoft Office on it. If you save it into a .doc or .docx, you shouldn’t have any trouble opening and printing it.
On a side note, if the files are small, you might consider e-mailing them to yourself, so that they don’t get lost, and are accessible from any PC that’s online.
