Sell my Intel iMac for a brand new Mac laptop?

I purchased my iMac a year ago and for the past year I feel going with a laptop would have been a better decision. Is there a way I could buy a brand new Mac laptop by trading or selling my mildly used iMac?

sell your imac on craigslist
Apple doesn’t have a trade-in program, but Mac’s hold their value pretty well so you should be able to sell it for a good price on Craigslist.com (personally I’d avoid eBay – post a Mac on eBay and you’ll get 90% scam replys). There’s a sweet site where you can put in the specs of your Mac and it will tell you the average resale price – however it’s on my bookmarks at home and I’m at work so I can’t tell you what the site is. It’s basically a Kelley Blue Book for Mac’s though.
I’d go Craigslist and I’d only deal locally and in cash (or maybe Cashier’s Check or Official Check – personal checks are not worth anything all too often).
Also, check out the Apple Refurb Store. Since the brand new MacBook and MacBook Pro’s are a lot less than they used to be, the last-gen models are WAY cheap! I was looking last week and the top of the line 15" MacBook Pro that would have cost you $2799 in March was selling for $1699. Sure, it’s not the BRAND new ones, but they aren’t old and they have the newer chipset and dual video cards that the current ones do.
Good luck!
