I bought a Compaq EvoN800c from a friend of a friend for $240 and have had no problems at all. It was only a few yrs old. If you are able to ask questions, definitely ask if there are any problems with it…operating system, sticking keys, memory, etc. People can lie and omit info, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, similar to if you were buying a used car. depending on features and price a used computer might be good, remember batteries are the biggest cost on a used notebook to replace and generally make a used on not worth buying.

haha guy above me …no their are way more costly things in a laptop… how about… the lcd, the video card (if it has one), motherboard, or even the hard drive….. the battery is usually cheap at round 100 bucks.
