my freind offerd it to me for cheap but my bro who is into computer networking told me not to get it cuz apple computers are totalty different then microsoft and arnt compatable with alot of programs are apples ok to use since im starting to go back o college? thanks

I have used Apple computers for years at work as a newspaper page designer. However, I’ve never owned one myself, so I’ve never paid that much attention to the specs.

My PC laptop is nearing the end of its life, and I was thinking about buying an Apple laptop to be able to more easily work on work projects at home.

The only things I can think of that I’d be looking to do on the laptop are wireless Internet (of course), Photoshop, InDesign and iMovie/iDVD. I don’t do much else, except occasionally burn a CD, so I don’t think I need a brand new or anywhere near top-of-the-line machine. In fact, the cheaper, the better. (I’m not against buying used or refurbished.)

Anyone with a lot more Apple-buying experience than me have any ideas or advice? Thanks!
