so i was at the apple store and saw a little guitar icon at the bottom of all the laptops and computers. i am a musician myself so i decided to investigate. i clicked on it and i didnt understand what it was.

what can i do with garageband?

will it come with the computer or do i have to buy it and download it?

can only get it on an apple laptop?

can i like, add drums and bass to songs i recorded?

if i cant, what programs can i buy/download that will allow me to do that, and also edit songs i record?

what equipment would i need to get a good recording of a song, like some equipment, mics, what? how much would it all cost? where do i get it?

I want to buy a laptop with a firewire port to plug in an M-Audio Firewire 410 soundcard and my midi guitar. I want to use it with music software like Cubase, Sibelius etc...Apple laptops are good but very expensive so they're out. I'd like to know if there's anyone out there who's using other brand laptops for music and can advise me on what laptop is compatible with external soundcards like M-Audio Firewire 410 and music software. Would be very grateful if someone can help out. Thanks.

hey everyone im looking on ebay for refurbished apple laptops, and im wondering what specs should my minimum be. i will mostly only use this laptop for internet surfing.

theres some ibooks like 800 mhz 256 mb ram and 30 gb hdd for 0
1.07 ghz with 512 mb ram and 30 gb hdd for 0
or 1.33 ghz with 512 mb ram and 40 gb hdd for 0

these are just some options that i have seen on ebay. and this is the price range i would like to stay around, so keep that in mind and also keep in mind that i wont be using this computer for huge programs or multiple programs just mostly internet browsing.

well i do know what the standards are today, i just cannot afford those standards. so thats why im looking for older models which are way cheaper. and i went to the link but unfortunately all of those go way over my price range.
