Right out of college I bought a brand new car. I had my thrill but I'll never do it again because cars depreciate so much in the first few years. Last year I bought a 3-year old Land Cruiser for about K (which sold for K new). I love it. Anyway, is it a smart idea to buy a used laptop? I have a desktop computer (HP Pentium 4, 2.53 GHz, 512 RAM) that works fine and I actually like the speed better than an HP Compaq NC6000 laptop which I sometimes use (and all I know about that baby is it has an M processor). Anyway, I want to add a used laptop to help me do business when I travel and mostly for surfing. I've got a budget of about 0 but I figure I'll probably have to bump that up to 0 or 0 to get something that's okay. Don't need a whole lot of storage for files. Do want built-in wifi capability. I'm a big ebay shopper too. What can I buy? Is my budget too low? What minimum specs should I look for considering my needs? What's your favorite beer?

I was thinking to buy a new laptop. I already have a laptop, which we use it with my brother so he takes it more than me.
I want to new things, and I thought why not buying an apple laptop, with MAC software. I think that is more fashionable(?) and attractive for the younger ages. I think to buy the classic MacBook: cheap, classic, fashionable, with the everything I need. BTW, Has it got wireless on it? I mean, have wireless internet with my wireless router.
I researched and I found that there is Windows Live Messenger and Microsoft Office for MAC(See down the source). And every other game or application I need is compatible with MAC.
I have the money. Will I buy it in a retail shop here or by eBay?
My birthday is coming next month, so I should tell to my parents give me my gift(money) now and not later. But, how I will convince them?
Which color I will buy?

I have a desktop and a big chunky monitor. Everything is running really slow and I think I have a virus. I'm not interested in how to fix the desktop (I've already posted that question on here and nothing worked.) I'm looking to buy a used laptop. I have an external hard drive that I've downloaded music and pictures to. I'm thinking Ebay - My main concern is getting one with Word and Excel - I assumed both came with Windows XP; which is what I'm running on my desktop now. When it says it comes with XP - does that mean it comes with Word and Excel also? What is a good brand and specs to be looking for?

I bought a Dell laptop from Best Buy last October (bought it for about 0). Here are the things that is wrong with it: won't connect to internet (it will connect but it needs to be plugged in), freezes if left for more than 5 minutes, randomly deleted one of the games that came with the computer, just has some random spastic issues such as the webcam flickering on for a moment and turning back off.
Since my computer is less than a year old, I feel like it can at least be salvaged for parts. Physically it is in great condition. I don't want to take it somewhere to get it fixed because I don't want to risk paying 0+ to get it fixed, get ripped off, and then have it still have some problems. I feel like this computer would be ideal for someone that likes to work with computers because they could mess around with it and probably fix it by themselves.
If nothing else, how much could I sell the "parts" for?
*Also, I'm planning on using Ebay, so I guess I'm wondering how much I should start the bidding price at.

I just bought a used dell c400 laptop off of ebay for my daughter. I have very little expierence with laptops. I asked the seller what I had to do for it to be internet ready and he said this computer has a plug in for a Lan cable for connecting to the internet. Can someone please explain and tell me what I will have to buy to make it internet ready. I have a desktop at home with high speed internet. I would like it know what the lan cable is for and how I can make it wireless. I don't think it has a cd rom or a floppy drive. Thanks.

I am considering upgrading to a better model laptop and I was just wondering what kind of ballpark price someone may pay for this on ebay or something. Also, is there any major retailer or store that would do a trade-in?

hey everyone im looking on ebay for refurbished apple laptops, and im wondering what specs should my minimum be. i will mostly only use this laptop for internet surfing.
theres some ibooks like 800 mhz 256 mb ram and 30 gb hdd for 0
1.07 ghz with 512 mb ram and 30 gb hdd for 0
or 1.33 ghz with 512 mb ram and 40 gb hdd for 0
these are just some options that i have seen on ebay. and this is the price range i would like to stay around, so keep that in mind and also keep in mind that i wont be using this computer for huge programs or multiple programs just mostly internet browsing.

well i do know what the standards are today, i just cannot afford those standards. so thats why im looking for older models which are way cheaper. and i went to the link but unfortunately all of those go way over my price range.
