I am about to get a laptop i beleive and i was wondering what everyones opinions were on Apple Mac Book. Or laptops with windows? Do you get what you pay for with the Mac Book? I have always used windows and liked windows but the Mac Book looks like it would be a great laptop. Also has anyone bought a Apple laptop off a sute that buys used ones tests everything in them and resells for a lot cheaper? And does the standard Mac Book come with a built in camera for iChat? Sorry for all the questions, thanks!

I don't use my computer for serious gaming, but I would very much like the thing to be fast and not to hang up when I inadvertently have four or five programs running simultaneously. Right now, the new Mac Book I'd like would run nearly 00, while one could get a pretty sweet i-Book for around half that price. (p.s. I think the first Intel-based Mac Books are shipping this week, so maybe someone with the desktop model could weigh in?) Thank you VERY much for your help.

I have been using Windows since the early 90's and have never used a Mac. I have an HP desktop and plan on still using it. I also want to buy a laptop because I have Wifi throughout my house and I don't always feel like sitting at a desk. A friend of mine recently switched to Mac and can't say enough good things about it. I just recently invested in an ipod touch. I downloaded itunes onto my PC and it's been working fine for me as far as loading stuff into my ipod. I basically plan on using the laptop mainly to play the MMO City of Heroes (which now has a version for Apple), to surf the web, manage my music and photos, play around in photoshop elements, and to a lesser extent edit home movies and the like from my camcorder. Given that these are the main and probably only reasons I would be using the laptop, is it worth spending the extra to get the Mac book or should I stick to an HP laptop with Windows?
And please refrain from the whole Mac vs. PC flame wars. Ideally I'd like to hear from people who have used both systems.

I have never used a Mac before but have heard good reviews. I never intend to develop software for Mac platform. I mainly develop in C, C++, Java. Any suggestions?
I use a PC with Windows or Linux at work for development. Can I create the same development environment on a Mac book and expect to compile and test my code without any changes whatsoever?

I'm extremely certain that I'll buy a mac book pro but I need some good advices.
I'm a graphic designer and I do heaps of photoshopping, flash, illustrating etc and I'm planning to buy a laptop that I can take with me. I use mac at work and at university but I'm using a toshiba laptop at home at the moment which I hate now. It fails me badly....
I use mac all the time for designing at work+ uni but I heard from my friends who owns macs that webcam doesnt work, their tablets doesnt work, msn doesnt work...heaps of stuff doesnt work..
Before I buy a mac I want to know if there is other good laptops that I could buy instead of a mac.
I have to give all my details to my family so they can buy it for me and I'm also wondering what sort of programs are recommended for me to buy. I need a list ready in a few days..
thanks
