I have an older Gateway Solo 5300 laptop that a friend of mine wants to upgrade the memory and I wanted to ask before buying if... will Mac laptop PC100 SODIMM memory be compatible with this Gateway laptop that the specs say PC100 is what is used?

I'm going to go to graphic arts, computer arts, and maybe a side of game creation but i have never bought a laptop in my life. My friend has been ranting how bad macs are and i kinda believe him. They seem to pass my budget of 2000 and all they can do is computer arts, i would have to buy vista separate for a extra 300 added to the price of 3200 of the mac which scares me if i have to get it. If i get a credit card and not get vista i wouldn't be able to play any of my games or programs i have, but it runs photoshop a lot smoother then my friends pc and it looks nice, i was looking at a gaming computer as a alternative from other companies but my other friend who dose graphics design says I'm going to need one if i want to continue it into a career and it would be difficult just using a pc; she advises both mac laptop and pc desktop. Is their a cheaper alternative or should i just screw it and use the credit card?
I heard of mac having no virus problems but my pc has never had a virus problem before so im not concerned about that.

a friend of mine just bought a used mac laptop, the problem is this: from what she was told she should be able to get free internet on it, but the users name and password are still in effect, is there any way to bypass these or to find the password? any help would be welcome!!!

I have a mac laptop. Bought the software "VMWARE Fusion" to run windows on my mac as well os x operating system. When installing, it asks for Windows product key. Where do I find that? I don't have one. Do I have to buy widows also? Can I use a copy of windows already on another computer?

basically i own a imac but i wanted to buy a used mac laptop. i find this one that says:
13" White Macbook, 2.4Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250HD, G5.
but im not sure if g5 is an older OS or is there any difference from the new ones.

I'm starting a graduate program in instructional design.
They will mainly use Adobe's Studio Suite (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks).
Money is an issue; but, if the Mac Pro is worth it, then perhaps the answer is yes for the Pro.
I do have a desktop PC with a pretty good graphics card, and memory. But, I was also considering buying a Mac laptop (even though I've only used the Mac a couple of times).
I would like to ask you if you think it would be necessary to buy a Mac Pro laptop to run the above applications (and perhaps pay extra for a faster hard drive 7200rpm and 17" screen or just the basic screen and hard drive? because I've read somewhere that a faster hard drive is better for running graphics, audio, and video); or would I do just as well with their basic Mac laptop and LCD screen?
Of course, the Mac Pro is much more than the basic Mac laptop, so this is why I need to find out if it's necessary.

i'm 17..still in highschool i've chosen a career that i'm highly interested in "Graphic Design" & i kno that i'm gonna need a mac & lets just say i aint tha riches kid on tha block...
will financial aid help me pay for a new or used mac laptop because i need one BADLY FOLKS!...
keep in mind that i'm 17 young black & i live in Fort Pierce, FL....
or is there any other program or something that can help me buy a mac laptop!!!

We have an eMachine desktop running XP with a HP Officejet connected to it. Additionally we have a wireless router that our HP laptops use to print and access the internet.
We recently bought a new MAC laptop and have successfully set it up to browse the internet via the wireless router. However, I am having trouble setting the MAC laptop up to print to the HP Desktop... can I set the MAC laptop up to print to the HP wirelessly?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 (that I don't really like.) I've wanted to try Mac for awhile, and I've decided that the route I want to go is to have a PC desktop (which I already have) and a Mac laptop. I'm looking for something with built in wifi (which my Dell does not have built in wifi) so I believe that's G4 iBooks and up.
