I am going to University in 2010, and I was planning to buy a Mac laptop! However, Apple has a deal right now where if you buy a Mac laptop, you get a free Ipod touch. So I was wondering... is it worth it to get the laptop now (considering I need time to get used to a Mac over a regular PC)? Or should I not go for the deal, since Apple may come out with new designs/upgrades, and buy a laptop before I go to University?
Also, I am thinking of getting into a Business program for my Undergrad. That being said, I don't really need many fancy programs on my laptop (since I am not doing graphic design or computer programming, etc). I just need a laptop for music, internet, Word, MSN, and that kind of jazz. Which Mac laptop is best for me and my needs?

I don't have an Apple ID because I haven't personally bought any Apple product yet. Some videos of initial start-ups that I saw seems to have an Apple ID-required page before actually using the laptop. I'm wondering if it's needed during the set-up assistant during the first start up of a Macbook. If it's needed, can I make an Apple ID which doesn't require actually buying something? By the way, I'm not the one buying the laptop.

I really want a white MacBook for I think ,299. My mom says no because we are going to be buying a house within the next 6 months. She has a great reason to say no, but I still really NEED the laptop. I have an iMac, but I really need an Apple laptop so I can use it while I travel, and when I go to my friend's homes for school projects that need a computer involved, so then I can have it on my own laptop. It is also great for anykind of traveling. It could even help with my education. Say I am out of town for a weekend, even if it is just a long drive. I can type it easily on the car or plane. There would be no hassle, and I would easily be able to blue-tooth documents and such from my iMac to my MacBook. How can I convince her to buy if for me? I can even pitch in. I get a week as an allowance, but have to pay for clothes etc. Do you think I can convince for Christmas? I just want the laptop, Apple Waranty, and mouse for it.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 (that I don't really like.) I've wanted to try Mac for awhile, and I've decided that the route I want to go is to have a PC desktop (which I already have) and a Mac laptop. I'm looking for something with built in wifi (which my Dell does not have built in wifi) so I believe that's G4 iBooks and up.
