Ok, I am a comparative newbie to the computer world and a definate novice to the Apple. Am looking at getting a laptop for my personal use and for the kids to get comfortable with using an Apple and a PC. Have been to the Apple store in our local mall to look a bit. This will not be used for games (much) just personal web surfing, some finances, photos and other basic stuff. Any suggestions on what model to buy? How do you feel about refurbished models for Apple? Extended warranties worth it? Please not too technical and thank you for your help

Hey! Can you please tell me whether it's any use buying a Mac over a Win PC laptop for a student about to start college in a Graduate course of Electrical & Electronics OR Computer Engineering?
I'll be mainly using it for preparing assignments, internet surfing and maybe playing games (not those demanding extremely high resources)
Oh yeah! I am comfortable with Win XP as such, have been using Windows for like 12 years i think.....but i am prepared to try Mac too! (+ i can use the Apple boot camp to run windows anyway)
Does Mac have any advantages? Does it make work any easier?
I understand it costs more...so consider only the models available at a price below , 00 or 00...
Please tell me what you think...Best answer if u convince me with your view!

Im interested in buying an apple laptop but most of them come in 13" screen sizes. I'm using a 15.4" laptop right now with Vista and a lot of times I wish this screen were bigger so I can't imagine shrinking a whole 2.4"! Yet Apple has a reputation for being a competent company...
I'll be using the laptop for database design classes, programming classes, web design classes, microsoft excel, web browsing, and movies. Am I going to hate life if I buy a 13" laptop from Apple?
P.S. Yeah, I know they sell 15" and 17" models but I'm most interested in the macbook air which only comes in 13".
