What laptop should I buy? Is DELL really the most reliable brand?

I’m planning on buying a new laptop in the next month since mine is dying on me and the panel is even getting cracked (we travelled a lot together). I’ve been really tempted to just buy a DELL laptop online; I’ve heard the quality of DELL laptops/computers has improved a lot and can now be fully trusted, is that true?
I’m looking for a laptop that is LIGHT but not too small…what I’ll basically do on it is surf the net, store my music, use Word and PowerPoint, so Microsoft Office basically and watch some videos. Any laptop brand with especially good battery life?
I do NOT want an ACER as they heat up oh-so fast.
Thanks!

Dell is not the most reliable brand. I have had three, and every single one has crapped out after 2-3 years. If want a light laptop, check out the MacBook Pros. It is made out of aluminum so it’s sturdy and durable, but light. They aren’t too small, (you pick the size, 13, 15, or 17 inch.) They come with safari, an amazing web browser, iTunes, so all your music is right at your finger tips, you can buy Microsoft Office Mac with your Mac or buy it in most wal-marts. You can play your DVDs on it, so movies aren’t a problem either. The MacBook Pro battery last around 7 hours, unless you get the 17 inch, in which case it should last around 8 hours. These are amazing computers, much better than any Dell out there. You won’t be disappointed, I promise. You can do anything a Dell can do and so much more on a Mac.
PS: ellinka suggested a MacBook Air. DO NOT GET A MACBOOK AIR!! Yeah, its thin and light, but it’s so thin they couldn’t put a CD/DVD player into it. I recommend just sticking to the MacBook Pros.
I have a Toshiba right now and it hardly gets hot or anything crazy like that. Personally I think it’s the most reliable because you can find parts/replacement parts easy and drives and what not on their website.
I hate dell and IMO. But if you want a good one then get Alienware or a Mac. They can be kinda expensive. But if you don’t want an expensive one, hands down, GET A TOSHIBA!
idk any other good ones but i just want to say acers at least my acer laptop doesnt heat up that fast. i can be on it for up to 4 hours without it even getting warm on the bottom, side, or basicly anywhere. ive been told that laptops arnt ment to be able to cool off like mine does so thats ppretty kool. by the way ITS ACER and DOESNT get hot very fast
srry for misspeling words. i suk at spelling
i have a dell and so far it’s worked perfectly for me and it never heats up. for something light i would recommend a mac air, but they are pricey ($1,700)
never buy the Mac air.
get an Asus. IF you want a mac get the pro the air is junk.
I have a real hate for Dell computers as i have seen what goes into building them. I have repaired many of them also.
Last week i was looking for something online and stumbled upon a customer survey on recent laptops. this was on a reputable site.
I was extremely surprised that Dell took the first 4 or 5 spots and Asus was next and the rest of the top 10 were Dell.
Needless to say i sat here scratching my head.
Ohhh…….And i have a 3 yo Acer that has never skipped a beat.
umm you do realize that dell used to purchase used computer parts and put them together right? O.o
How much do u intend to spend on the laptop. If you have more than 1500 i would strongly recommend buying one of the Sony VAIO laptops. I brought one of them 5 years ago and it never gave me any problems. But if you are low in budget, I would still recommend HP over Dell but thats just me. If you are still gonna get a Dell, make sure to extend your warantee.
Dont say anything about ACER if you are so stupid as to ask if DELL is the most reliable brand.
