I will be visiting Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong in January 2007. I want to buy a laptop computer, a camcorder, a digital camera and other electronic gadgets. Which of the three cities offers the best deals and where?

Bangkok almost certainly, and one of the cheapest places here is Panthip Plaza. Expect to haggle, but remember to check both the warranty (not all will come with an International one) and the specifications are actually what you are being sold. Good luck.

Bangkok for sure
Pantip Plaza exactly, but make sure you buy it from a store that is a store. Not just one set up on the sides. And as mentioned, warranty is a must, and try to negotiate the prices. Since its bangkok, you can always negotiate.
The US discount stores sale items and internet stores have as good prices as the best prices anywhere in the world.
Unless you really know prices and models you will get eaten alive in Hong Kong shops. Thailand taxes electronics and gadgets there are MORE expensive. Thais sometimes drive to Cambodia to buy electric stuff. Singapore and Taiwan are OK. Sometimes you can find things not available in the US and few gadgets cheaper than US stores but not computers and not cameras
Computers, cameras and high volume gadgets are commodity items and international trade is very effective. Buy where you can get service if you unfortunately need it.
Thailand and Hong Kong are good places to buy clothes and gold chains.

Singapore for electronics goods
Just one thing about electronics- you may not be able to plug them in to outlets in your home country.
Many years ago I bought an MD player when I was living in Japan and brought it back with me to the US. I can’t just plug it in or else I’d cause a fire, so I bought one of those international adapters.

Buy in Singapore. Even the Thais are coming here to buy their electronics gadgets.
I think is singapore and safety.
I disagree with all those saying BKK, coz I bought my laptop there (yes at Panthip Plaza) and then travelled to HK and found the same model for 10% less, and that was without haggling. (I was living in Asia at the time, so it wasn’t like I was not in a position to look around and compare.)
Though, I’ve not shopped for electronics in SG, so can’t comment on that.
