I live in Texas, had no money, though I had a decent job, I got a government grant and used half of it to by a Macbook Pro..
Apple gives a good discount for students.. If you’re gonna buy a new mac notebook though the least you’ll spend is probably 999, and that’s the bare bones macbook..
For graphic design.. A field where image quality is ultra important.. You’ll be using all kinds of things like Illustrator and Photoshop.. You’d need a Macbook Pro since it has it’s own graphics card, a superior display, and enough "juice" out the box to push those types of applications(which are cpu hogs).. the regular macbook and the Air’s graphics are integrated into the CPU from my understanding, and the display is terrible.. The definition isn’t very great..
You should try to get one used or through http://www.macmall.com..
Dell makes good notebooks too, for less than a grand you could have a machine just as good or better than the entry level Macbook.
Depends on how much you will get back from your return once all of your fees and tuition is paid. Because its yours! You could always get a loan but u gotta pay it back. But it is possible! All I want is a car!
I don’t know what being black has to do with it unless you apply for race based scholarships, but you could conceivably have enough after tuition and books to buy a computer. On the other hand, your college will have computer labs adequate to complete your course work. Maybe all you really need is a jump drive. I suggest going to the student services center at the school you plan to attend and ask for help investigating scholarship options.
